Quantum Fiber app-supported Wi-Fi 6-to-7 equipment swap, using the supplied replacement equipment.
Check the exact device
Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.
Applies to: Quantum Fiber app-supported Wi-Fi 6-to-7 equipment swap, using the supplied replacement equipment.
Before disconnecting
Keep the Q9500 pods connected until the app's instructed disconnect stage. Do not combine the old and new pod systems. The wall-mounted SmartNID and its green fiber leads remain in place: W1700K is not its replacement.
Swap sequence
- Open the Quantum Fiber app and the existing 360 WiFi Pods view. Select the wired pod, then Manage Pod > Swap Pod, as shown in the official instructions.
- Follow identification and network-setting prompts while the old service is still reachable. Keep any saved network password local.
- Disconnect the old pods only when directed. Connect W1700K WAN/LAN1 to C5500XK WAN/LAN1, or to the C6500XK 10G WAN/LAN port, as applicable.
- Complete the app's new-pod setup. Add W1701K through the app only when additional coverage is needed; do not add a pod solely to obtain extra LAN ports.
Verify / undo
Confirm the wired pod is online, then reconnect a client and inspect any additional pod. If migration fails, contact Quantum Fiber before attempting account reprovisioning or random factory resets. Preserve the old equipment for the provider's return/recovery process; do not assume simply reconnecting it restores the prior account state.
