Check the exact device

Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: These SmartNIDs and Wi-Fi 7 pods; never infer another ISP gateway has the same behavior.

Identify the two jobs

C5500XK and C6500XK terminate the provider's fiber service. Neither supplies built-in Wi-Fi or WPS. The separate W1700K wired pod supplies the primary Wi-Fi connection; W1701K is an additional wireless pod.

Check the right device

  1. For internet service failure, inspect the SmartNID's status and its connection to the wired pod. Do not detach the permanent wall-mounted unit or green fiber leads.
  2. For wireless settings and pod management, use the Quantum Fiber app. A SmartNID admin page is not evidence of a Wi-Fi radio inside it.
  3. Read the LED table for the exact device and operating phase. For example, SmartNID white means transparent bridge mode, whereas pod red during startup can be a test and red during everyday operation means service failure.
  4. Check the labelled Ethernet port instead of assuming all ports on either box have the same maximum speed.

Verify / undo

Confirm service to the wired pod and then one wireless client. Undo only the reversible cable or setting change being tested. Do not enable transparent bridge just because its white indicator was seen elsewhere; that mode changes the network's routing responsibilities.

Official evidence

Editorial boundary: No hands-on testing was performed. Confirm the device label, current firmware and live official instructions before making changes. Never send passwords, VPN keys or complete configuration backups to RouterFix.
