Before you change anything
A provider policy may depend on service and gateway firmware. Never assume an unsupported bridge or port-forwarding menu exists.

Before changing mode
IP Passthrough is not asserted to be pure L2 bridge. Do not turn a context-specific DMZ+ firewall workaround into a universal prerequisite.
- Identify the gateway model and any TV or voice service on it.
- Record present cabling and Wi-Fi names.
- Confirm the provider’s recovery procedure before switching modes.
Check the result
After one change, verify a wired client, Wi-Fi clients, and any TV or phone service. If service disappears, restore the recorded mode and cabling.
