Check the exact device

Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: UniFi U6 Enterprise and U7 Pro XGS; compare client capability and powered uplink.

Official evidence: UniFi U6 Enterprise official technical specifications, UniFi U7 Pro XGS official technical specifications.

Before you begin

  • Confirm 6 GHz legality and supported channels for the regulatory region.
  • Check the client operating system, Wi-Fi chipset and security requirements.

What to check / do

  1. U6 Enterprise is Wi-Fi 6E tri-band; U7 Pro XGS is Wi-Fi 7 tri-band. A 6E client cannot acquire Wi-Fi 7 MLO just from the new AP.
  2. Compare PoE and uplink requirements before replacing hardware: 2.5GbE PoE+ vs 10GbE PoE++.
  3. If clients do not see 6 GHz, test one verified 6E/7-capable client, review wireless security and channel settings on the managed network, then retest.
  4. Do not present spatial stream counts or summed PHY rates as real-world single-client throughput.

Verify the result

  • Supported clients associate on the intended band and keep normal internet connectivity.
  • Power and wired negotiation match supported switch/injector capability.

If the result is not what you expected

  • Stop changing settings if you cannot identify the model or a reliable administrator recovery path.
  • Use the exact manufacturer support link below and quote your hardware label, firmware version, and what changed.

Restore / undo

Restore the prior wireless SSID/security profile and upstream switch port if testing the new configuration fails.
