Check the exact device

Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: New UniFi U7 Pro XG, E7 and E7 Campus Indoor devices managed by UniFi Network.

Official evidence: UniFi VLAN troubleshooting, UniFi U7 Pro XG official technical specifications.

Before you begin

  • Save current switch port profile and management VLAN settings before any edit.
  • Keep a local management connection that remains reachable if the adoption port stops working.

What to check / do

  1. Identify the management VLAN/subnet used by the UniFi Network application and the AP uplink switch port.
  2. Check the official UniFi guidance for native (untagged) network and tagged VLANs. A mismatch can block DHCP/discovery.
  3. Confirm upstream switch permits the AP management path and that DHCP/gateway exist on that VLAN.
  4. After restoring reachability, attempt adoption using the vendor-supported process; avoid repeated factory resets before port/VLAN validation.

Verify the result

  • AP receives an IP on its intended management network.
  • UniFi Network lists the device reachable and adopted without opening inbound internet management ports.

If the result is not what you expected

  • Stop changing settings if you cannot identify the model or a reliable administrator recovery path.
  • Use the exact manufacturer support link below and quote your hardware label, firmware version, and what changed.

Restore / undo

Restore the saved switch port profile and DHCP/VLAN configuration from the wired management path if the AP loses reachability.
