Check the exact device

Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: Grandstream GWN7001, GWN7002 and GWN7003 wired router models.

Official evidence: Grandstream GWN7001/7002/7003, Grandstream router documentation index.

Before you begin

  • Read the exact GWN700x rear label and port map; GWN7001/GWN7002/GWN7003 port roles can differ.
  • Have a separate supported wireless AP or switch if users need Wi-Fi.

Physical layout

ISP modem/ONT -> GWN700x (WAN, DHCP/NAT) -> LAN switch -> separate PoE wireless AP -> Wi-Fi clients

What to check / do

  1. Confirm the product is a wired WAN/VPN router and has no built-in 2.4/5/6 GHz radio.
  2. Connect the ISP modem/ONT to the vendor-documented WAN interface and a test laptop to the intended LAN.
  3. Confirm DHCP and internet reachability on wired LAN before adding APs.
  4. Attach a Grandstream or other configured AP downstream with documented PoE power; its Wi-Fi network is not automatically created by the wired GWN router.
  5. Before using VPN, VLAN or multi-WAN, preserve the current config and check the correct device documentation rather than assuming a GWN7062 web menu.

Verify the result

  • Wired client receives gateway, DNS and internet access.
  • Independent AP broadcasts an expected SSID and receives upstream network connectivity.

If the result is not what you expected

  • Stop changing settings if you cannot identify the model or a reliable administrator recovery path.
  • Use the exact manufacturer support link below and quote your hardware label, firmware version, and what changed.

Restore / undo

Disconnect the AP and restore the saved WAN/LAN configuration using local wired access. Avoid factory-resetting a production router.

Evidence, limits and editorial disclosure
