Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: These two MoCA 2.5 Ethernet adapters; coax compatibility must be checked separately.

Before connecting

These are Ethernet bridges over coax, not Wi-Fi radios or cable modems. Identify what already uses the coax. ScreenBeam excludes satellite-TV/AT&T U-verse coax arrangements and warns that some DOCSIS 3.1 frequencies can overlap. That is not a blanket rejection of every Ethernet connection supplied by AT&T.

Connection sequence

  1. Identify a suitable coax path and compatible MoCA peer at each end. Ask the ISP about shared-service frequencies, splitters and required isolation before changing its coax plant.
  2. For the ECB7250, connect router LAN to adapter Ethernet, the approved coax path to Coax, then its specified 5-V/2-A supply. Install the second adapter at the destination and attach a test computer or the intended AP's uplink.
  3. Use the original mesh vendor's LAN-side topology when the destination is a mesh node. MoCA does not make different mesh ecosystems interoperable.

Verify / undo

Check the adapter's coax-link indicator separately from its Ethernet-link indicator. Test one wired client before attaching the AP; a 2.5-GbE port is not a measured 2.5-Gbps guarantee. If service deteriorates, disconnect the added adapters and restore the recorded coax layout. Do not remove provider grounding or protection hardware.

Official evidence

Editorial boundary: No hands-on testing was performed. Confirm the device label, current firmware and live official instructions before making changes. Never send passwords, VPN keys or complete configuration backups to RouterFix.

If your coax path is suitable for MoCA

Confirm the existing coax services, splitters, frequencies and the need for an adapter at each end before ordering. ScreenBeam documents limits for satellite TV, some provider coax networks and DOCSIS 3.1 overlap; a search result is not a compatibility verdict.
