Check the exact device

Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: An existing eero network with another router providing routing/DHCP.

Checked: 2026-11-01 · Risk: caution · Status: source-grounded editorial draft; not hands-on tested.

Before you begin

Keep one upstream router active and preserve a route back into its administration. Check which paid/security features your household uses.

Procedure

  1. Finish the normal eero network setup first.
  2. In the eero app, open Settings > Advanced networking > DHCP & NAT.
  3. Select Bridge and allow the network to apply the change.
  4. Keep the gateway eero in the required traffic path; bridge mode is not permission to wire every eero in arbitrary parallel arrangements.
  5. Review features that are unavailable in bridge mode before assuming a subscription is malfunctioning.

Verify the result

eero still broadcasts Wi-Fi and clients obtain working network service from the upstream router. Test more than one node.

Undo or recover

Restore the prior DHCP & NAT mode, normally Automatic for a routing eero, and restore the original topology.

Stop and escalate

Do not disable upstream DHCP until another verified router is serving the network.

Evidence and interpretation limits

The eero-specific section retains Wi-Fi. Advanced security/filtering and other features can be unavailable; the generic introductory bridge description is not the device-specific behavior.

The steps above combine paraphrased official instructions with an original safety and test workflow. They are not a verbatim manual, a guaranteed fix, or evidence of a common hardware defect.
