Check the exact device

Menu names and behavior can vary by US hardware revision and firmware. This guide was researched from official material, not tested on a physical router.

Applies to: These Gold hardware variants; confirm router mode versus transparent bridge before cabling.

Match the variant

Gold SE has 2.5-GbE on ports 1/4 and Gigabit on 2/3. Gold Pro has 10-GbE on 1/4 and 2.5-GbE on 2/3. Gold Plus has four 2.5-GbE ports. The installation guide identifies port 4 as the default WAN.

Connection checks

  1. Keep the required security dongle installed during pairing/activation. Follow the Firewalla app rather than a Wi-Fi-router web wizard; these gateways have no built-in Wi-Fi.
  2. For a new router-mode installation, connect the upstream service to the identified WAN port and the downstream switch/AP to the intended LAN port. Preserve ISP credentials and the old wiring for recovery.
  3. A serial-console socket on applicable Gold hardware is not an Ethernet or power connection. Match the exact port label before inserting a cable.
  4. Verify the app's port role after any custom reassignment; default numbering does not override an existing configuration.

Verify / undo

Check WAN acquisition and one downstream wired client before adding APs. If setup fails, restore the original router wiring. Do not use a button marked Reset as a universal factory-reset instruction: documented button behavior varies by Gold model.

Official evidence

Editorial boundary: No hands-on testing was performed. Confirm the device label, current firmware and live official instructions before making changes. Never send passwords, VPN keys or complete configuration backups to RouterFix.
